The IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) is a global initiative to improve the lives of over 590 million people worldwide living with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
Awareness of and understanding how hospitality can address the requirements of guests with swallowing difficulties and welcome them and those who will come with them to stay, eat, drink and meet, represents an enormous opportunity for our industry, and a new, life-changing social dimension to the lives of those affected by Dysphagia.
So we are delighted to announce that IncluCare is partnering with The Swallows Head and Neck Cancer Charity, who, in association with IDDSI, have now launched ‘The Swallows Restaurant Card’ scheme to help people with swallowing difficulties to visit an approved eating establishment without worries or embarrassment. This means that all hotels en route to Verified by IncluCare status have the opportunity to introduce their F&B personnel – kitchens and front of house, to unique IDDSI training. Several are already promoting themselves as Dysphagia-friendly destinations.
Conscious Inclusivity at its best.
